Top Ten 60's Songs

Dear You,

I love listening to older songs and started to round up all of my favorite classic songs until I realized they were all from the 60's. How can you not love the age of the Beatles, Frank Sinatra, and Elvis coming together with so many other amazing bands and artists to create a generation of amazing music? Here are my top 10 from my favorite classic decade...

Top 3: These are undoubtedly my top 3 however I could never, ever choose from among the 3, their musical genius is equal

Fly Me to the Moon by Frank Sinatra

This song screams jazz with the instrumentals and swing beat, I even love the classic record sound in the back of the recording, you can't get that sound anywhere else. Also a sucker for a good love metaphor which is basically the entire song.

L-O-V-E by Nat King Cole

I've loved this since I heard it in Parent Trap at 6 years old. There's this genuine theme in classic love songs with the gentleman pining after his love, you don't really hear about that in the modern world.

What A Wonderful World by Louis Armstrong

I adore the message behind this song, admiring the beauty in our everyday world. And love his classic, unique voice and the jazzy sound of trumpets in the harmony.

4. Can't Help Falling In Love by Elvis Presley

Easily my favorite Elvis song, this again has the classic love sound, so pure, genuine, and gentleman sounding. I also love the happy softness in this one, not many artists can pull this off so easily.

5. She's Not There by The Zombies

This songs far more upbeat than the other ones but I love the unique classic rock sound in this song

6. Eleanor Rigby by The Beatles

Beatles songs were often quite vague and I loved that this one had a bit more of a story to it than usual (Revolver was definitely my favorite Beatles album)

7. Sittin On the Dock of the Bay by Otis Redding

This was the golden age of the blues, the song managed to talk about a completely ordinary song in the most interesting way

8. For What It's Worth by Buffalo Springfield

I love the societal commentary in this song and the fact that they did it in a very peaceful sounding song, just pointing out injustices they saw

9. I Want You Back by The Jackson Five

I love Michael Jackson's voice in this song, especially considering his young age. It's also a very cute love song that somewhat reminds me of a lot of modern music

10. You Really Got Me by The Kinks

I just like the classic sound in this one and the catchy-ness of the song (is that a word? Well, it is now)

Anyways, those are my favorites even though I tried not to repeat any artists so I may have considered another Beatles song in place of others. My favorites are bound to be different than yours so what are your favorite songs from this decade? Leave them in the comments below?

Have an Amazing Day!
