Guilty Pleasures

Dear You,

I am an avid music lover, I listen to it constantly and it makes me happy like nothing else. However if most other music lovers knew every song I listened to they would laugh at me. But I happen to like certain music and I feel like if you like an artist or genre and think they're catchy or relateable there should no shame in listening to them as much as one very well likes. But the rest of the world does not see it this way and here are a few of my guilty pleasures in music:

Taylor Swift

If you read my posts about music you will know that I love Taylor Swift like no other. Almost anyone can relate to her songs and however underrated her songs may be in the public eye I think she is a brilliant songwriter and very good with words, I could probably recite every word of every song but very few know this.

One Direction

Their first album was unintelligently catchy and their second had a couple good singles with several similar sounding fillers I don't care for. However I really enjoy their third. There are upbeat songs, perfect for working out or the random dance party, and a few slow ones, which while I think the band does better with upbeat songs still aren't too bad. There is still a problem with the third album of noticeably similar sounding songs but it was worth the purchase.

Glee

I have watched every episode of Glee since freshman year and happen to be watching this week's episode while writing this. Rachel Berry is my spirit animal and has given me confidence since day 1. There are several classic songs I now love that I wouldn't have learned had Glee not covered them and would not know the masterpiece that is the story of Wicked without this commonly corny show.

Country Music

As a general genre, I really truly enjoy country. There are entire lives told in a matter of minutes with only "three chords and the truth" (Sara Evans). And I swear no one would guess my intense love in a glance, I wasn't raised around country and have only ever lived in WA and CA states, both not known for the genre at all. But some of the music is real music, the kind with more than 10 whole words, well written, and relateable and I could go on all day about it and one day I probably will, but for now...  I really like country and for once I'm willing to admit it :)

So there are some of my favorite artists no matter how underrated or overlooked they may be by those around me... They are my guilty pleasures and no matter how much I love them they will be staying that way, at least for now

Comment below what are your guilty pleasures? Be they music, food, or some other forbidden treasure...

Have an Amazingly Musical Day!

Mia B!
